French Village Bakery Belfast Bap
Originally the creation of Northern Irish philantropist Bernard ‘Barney’ Hughes. During the famine years in the 1840s he created a standardised affordable bread bap and that small loaf still survives today under the name ‘the Belfast bap’. It was immortalised in the childrens song ‘half a bap with sugar on the top’. French Village craft theirs to the same classic, simple, tasty recipe.
